Interview with Chief Puller

B&G: What were major issues/problems caused by the recent snow storms? Puller: The priority, as always, was the safety and security of our students, faculty and staff. The second objective is the protection of college property. The third mission, in this case, was to help others get their mission accomplished, such as clearing and removing the snow or enabling students to get around as needed.

American figure skater Evan Lysacek defeats Evgeni Plushenko for Olympic Gold!

Anyone who knows anything about American Men's figure skating is aware of the disappointing, but true reality of a lack of an Olympic gold medal for America in the past 22 years. However, that all changed on February 18 in Vancouver as Evan Lysacek, this year's American skating star, edged out his rival Evgeni Plushenko to win the gold medal.

Winter 2010 Olympics

When you read this article, it is likely the 2010 Winter Olympics will already be coming to a close. When watching, I must admit that I am not exactly a nationalist. Frankly, I root for anyone I think doesn't have intercontinental ballistic missiles. That being said, I must explain my love of the Winter Olympics.

Campus Safety Log

Starting new this issue in the Blue and Grey Today, we will be publishing a campus safety events log. If something happens on or around campus, it will be displayed in the events log. The log will be based on another log supplied by Campus Safety. Date: January 7, 2010 Location: Registrar's Office What Happened: Security responded to a report that a student had fainted in the Registrar's Office.

It's pretty safe to say that everyone knows the media skews things to suit their own agendas. A lot of people who like to stay current have a particular news source (or a few of them) that they prefer over the others, because that news source has better reporting, or they don't twist the facts the way others do.

The Premise of War

With the promised addition of 30,000 more troops by President Obama, and a strategy shift that indicates that America will be pulling out in 18 months, the war in Afghanistan is pretty much a losing cause. Don't misunderstand me, I support the military, after all I am an honorably discharged veteran of the U.

SGA UPDATE

A holiday dinner, charity donations to the homeless, and plans for spring semester events are just a portion of the many things Hood's SGA Executive Board has worked on so far this year. The SGA Executive Board has only had the opportunity to meet one time this semester, but President Dana Davenport informs me that there is much underway for this spring semester.

Snow Storm Saga

Two storms that generated snow fall of approximately 40 inches, in combination with strong winds, were unexpected weather conditions for this part of the country. The first snow blizzard struck Maryland, and Hood College, on Friday afternoon, Feb. 5th. A Second, even stronger, blizzard hit on Monday, Feb.
